The 12 Baby Products I Can't Live Without
These past 5 weeks of motherhood have taught me so much about baby products! What I find hilarious is that prior to having Amira I OBSESSED over my registry and the products I added to it. I spent hours researching the best products and reading reviews to make sure I was making the right choices. I mean don't get me wrong the time I put into researching products was definitely worth it, but at the end of the day you'll never know what works for your family until your little one arrives! I've rounded up the top 12 products that I absolutely can't live without and use every single day for you all.
P.S. This post is not sponsored at all, I'm just genuinely obsessed with each and every product!
1. Owlet Smart Sock 2
I heard about this product a lot over this past year and originally thought it was one of those gadgets that are not particularly necessary but would be great to have. After learning more about SIDs during our child education classes I decided that it would be great to have a monitoring system (for peace of mind) so I bought it. Essentially the Owlet is a monitor that tracks your baby's heart rate and oxygen levels and alerts you if something is wrong. I wholeheartedly believe that this product has helped my husband and I sleep better because we know that she is being monitored at all times!
2. Ollie Swaddle
We took a newborn sleep education class and this swaddle was highly recommended by the instructor. I mean let's face it, at $60 it's pretty expensive for a swaddle but let me tell you IT'S WORTH IT. Amira found ways to Houdini herself out of any swaddle we put her in BUT this one. The super soft fabric, snug design, and moisture wicking technology are all great features as well! We use this swaddle for both naps and nighttime sleep.
3. Hatch Baby Rest
I read so much about how sound machines are great for newborns since they are used to hearing vacuum like noises in the womb. The Hatch Baby Rest sound machine had great reviews so I added it to our registry! I'm glad that we got it as a gift because we used this sound machine in the hospital the day Amira was born and now we use it every day. I love the variation of sounds, the nightlight feature, and having the ability to control it from their awesome app!
4. Kiinde Twist System
Since I exclusively breastfeed Amira, I knew that eventually I would want to start pumping for the occasional bottle. I wanted a system that would eliminate the hassle of transferring breastmilk and decrease the amount of dishes that comes with it. So the Kiinde twist system really seemed like a great option for me so I bought it on a whim. I'm so glad that I did, it's AMAZING! I pump into their twist bags and my husband uses the bags in their bottle system to feed her occasionally. Let me add that we tried a bunch of bottles that are specific for breastfed babies and they did not work for her at all. I can't recommend this system enough, it's wonderful and really eliminates a lot of work that comes with pumping, storing, and bottle-feeding breastmilk!
5. Samsung Baby Monitor
This is a great monitor! It has such great picture quality, barely has any delay, WONDERFUL night time vision, and it's wifi capable. Zero complaints we love it!
6. UPPAbaby Vista
I had my eyes on this stroller the second I found out I was pregnant. I love the way it looks and the functionality of it! I was especially drawn to the fact that this stroller has the ability to adapt to your growing family. We use the UPPAbaby Mesa infant car seat with this stroller as well and it's great!
7. Fisher-Price Rock 'n Play
If there is one product that every parent raves about it's the Fisher-Price Rock 'n Play! A lot of parents use the rock 'n play for overnight sleep for their babies and we did as well while transitioning between bassinets. Amira slept amazing in this rock n' play overnight and we were so tempted to continue using it. However, I really wanted her to get used to sleeping laying flat overnight so ultimately we decided to get her back into a bassinet. We still use the rock n' play during the day for some naps or for when we're eating dinner. Love it!
8. Wildbird Sling
I've shared this sling on my instagram a lot and I really love it (so does Amira)! I went back and forth about what kind of baby wearing device I wanted to use with her and ended up landing on Wildbird. What I love about this sling is that there isn't a ton of fabric that I have to wrangle in order to get her into it! It's easy to use and honestly looks great on.
Super classic baby product that everyone loves and adores. I don't think I need to say much about the boppy except that it really is great for breastfeeding moms or if you need to give those arms a resting spot when cradling your baby! I use my boppy every single day.
10. Newton Baby Wovenaire Crib Mattress
I did a whole lot of research on crib mattresses when registering because I really didn't know what to get. Even though I knew Amira wouldn't overnight sleep in her crib for a while, I wanted to make sure we were buying the right mattress when the time came. Let me tell you this mattress is amazing for so many reasons but mainly because it's fully breathable and washable! We started napping Amira in her crib at two weeks old and she would PASS out the second her head hit this mattress. It's wonderful and since she loves it so much we have considered moving her into her room a bit sooner than we originally thought.
11. Burt's Bees Multipurpose Ointment
This is one of those random registry adds that you think no one would buy, but you kind of wanted to bookmark it for yourself kinda thing haha. I'm really happy we did actually get this because we use it religiously every single day. Amira got a slight diaper rash a week after she was born and we were using desitin and it was HORRIBLE. The second we started using this ointment it was gone in a day! It's also multipurpose so we use it for dry skin too!
12. Babyletto Glider
This specific babyletto glider is so gorgeous and fits beautifully in our apartment. I sit on it during nursing sessions or to rock Amira to sleep. I couldn't imagine not having this glider in our every day lives!
