3 Reasons Why I Quit Lifestyle Blogging
If you’ve stuck around for awhile you’ve noticed quite a lot of changes to my website and Instagram account. You may or may not know that prior to launching my consulting business I lifestyle blogged for 5+ years! My website has since changed to fit the needs of my business. However, my past lifestyle blogging career lead me to where I am now, so I don’t have any regrets!
This year I made the conscious choice to take a step back from “lifestyle blogging” and stop sharing a lot of my personal life online. There are a few reasons for this and I wanted to share with you guys why!
It was just straight up exhausting: I give so many props to all of the influencers out there sharing their lives for complete strangers 24/7. To be honest, leveraging precious moments in my life to share as content was getting very tiring FAST. Also, feeling pressured to post on my blog or on Instagram all the time just wasn’t serving me.
I wanted to take back more of my privacy: I don’t think I ever got to the point where I was seriously oversharing my life through my blog. I always felt that it was important to make sure my husband and I were okay with the amount of information out there (especially in regards to our daughter). However, the more I look back on certain blog posts or Instagram posts I just felt the need to reel it in more. Maybe it’s because I’m a mom now or I just don’t want people knowing what I’m doing all of the time. All I know is that I felt the need to stop and refocus what I wanted out there for the world to see. No, I don’t have a hundred thousand or millions of followers BUT imagine being in a room with five thousand eyes on you, that’s is enough to make you reevaluate.
Being a “Lifestyle Blogger” didn’t fit in with my business goals: This is the most important reason because now that I’ve shifted my website from a blog to a service based business, sharing my “makeup routine” just doesn’t fit. It’s been hard for me to fully shift focus (hence the reason why I’ve been MIA a bit) but I knew that I need to make this pivot in order to push my business forward.
Now this doesn’t mean I’m never going to share my life on social media, but you won’t find much of that here on my website. Naturally I can’t help but blog and share tips with you all (it’s in my blood!!) but expect more social media / marketing tips here versus personal content!
Thanks for coming on along for the ride with me these years. I hope that my new direction will serve you with valuable content and tools you can use!
