Falling in love with vintage
"Why do you love vintage so much?"
A question I've received so much over the past few years, and I've realized I have yet to talk about it on Labels and Vintage. Where to even begin! My love for vintage and fashion really started when I was 6 or 7 and I stumbled upon my grandmother's Vogue collection (sounds cliche, I know!). I remember she had stacks and stacks of vintage magazines, not particularly because she was into fashion but mainly because she used them for her collage projects. I sat for hours pouring over the pages mesmerized by the clothes, the models, and the glamour. It was also with my grandmother that I watched my first old hollywood film and from then on I was hooked! Audrey Hepburn became my role model and I started collecting all of her movies. Even to this day on a lazy sunday I'll watch Breakfast at Tiffany's and recite every single line. These moments ignited a spark, I knew that fashion was my path and vintage was my passion no matter what.
I have a strong appreciation for items rich with history. I often wear a piece of vintage jewelry or clothing and take a second to think about who might have owned it before me. What was she like, what was her story? I have pieces dating back to the 30s and it's crazy sometimes to think that the person who owned it probably never thought their item would transcend all of these years. Whenever I get a chance to hear the story behind a piece I get truly excited and even more attached to it. Don't get me wrong, I love the new just as much as the old but with every outfit I wear there will always be a piece of vintage. It's who I am, It's become my signature and I'm glad I get to share it with you!
