Recent Updates I've Made to My Beauty Routine

It's been awhile since I last talked about beauty on the blog! So today I wanted to share with you some recent updates I've made to my beauty routine. As you all know, I'm a drug store beauty junkie and I have to admit it's really hard for me to spend a lot of money on makeup and skincare products. I like to keep my beauty routine pretty simple so I never thought to invest much in quality products but that has since changed after getting my makeup done professionally for my baby shower. Also, I received a face oil sample in a monthly subscription box that was a huge game changer for me (and an upgrade from my $5 moisturizer LOL). So keep reading below for more details on my beauty routine updates!

I finally ditched the drug store foundation

This was a HARD habit to break! To go from spending $8-$12 on foundation to $50+ dollars was pretty tough for me. However, the difference in quality, color matching, and application was like night and day. I decided to go with the Makeup Forever HD Invisible Cover Stick Foundation because my makeup artist used it on me recently for my baby shower and it looked INCREDIBLE!

Started using Moisturizing Oils

So I recieved a very miniature sample of the Biossance Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil in my GlossyBox last month and it has been life changing. I never thought to use an oil as a moisturizer because I'm so used to creams, but I've been seeing oils so much on social media lately. Once I put this oil on my face I was so in love with how it felt and it smells amazing. I'm going to take the plunge and upgrade to a big bottle once my teeny tiny sample runs out (and it will really fast)!

Gave up contour kits

So my makeup artist used this Nars soft matte concealer as a bronzer for my baby shower glam and I was pretty obsessed with how it looked. I've been contouring for YEARS using these contour kits with muddy brown colors and I recently started to become frustrated with it. It was a pretty nice change to see her use a warmer / reddish toned concealer to add warmth to my face, so I bought it!

Giving powder highlighter a try

I'm all about that glow! I've tried a handful of highlighters and most of them have been cream based which looks great but I've noticed they make my face oily. So after doing some research I decided to buy the Anastasia Beverly Hills Ultimate Glow Kit recently! It's SUPER pigmented which is awesome and gives you the perfect highlight without the heavy application.

Started using a color corrector

I've struggled with dark circles under my eyes forever and I thought that using a light concealer was the only makeup solution to get rid of them. This was until I found out I can make those bad boys disappear by using a color corrector and doing away with the heavy concealer application. My makeup artist recommended I used Sephora Bright Future Color Corrector in peach to help with the dark circles and it's been working great.
