Natural Baby Products I Use & Love
Utilizing natural products is something that's been heavy on my mind lately. I never really thought too much about the ingredients in products that I use until we had Amira. The purity of your child's health and environment is something you want to keep for as long as you can and I've made efforts to do so recently! We've always used a mix of natural and non-natural products since Amira was born but the more I read about toxic ingredients the more I'm ready to completely make the switch (in all areas of my home). I know that not all products that claim to be natural are, however, I believe that making the first steps in switching to safer products in general is a great place to start.
Seventh Generation Free & Clear Overnight Diapers: We LOVE these diapers and use them everyday for overnight! They are super absorbent and have the cutest prints on them. They are free of chlorine bleaching, lotions, and fragrances which is wonderful! We don't use natural diapers 24/7 for Amira (as we're still working through our baby shower diaper raffle stock pile haha) but we plan on making the switch completely very soon!
Seventh Generation Free & Clear Wipes: I've talked about these wipes in my "What's in my Diaper Bag" blog post and I can't rave about them enough! They are safe for baby's sensitive bottom, hands, and face which makes them the best multipurpose wipes! I love how thick and soft they are too! Best part, is that these hypoallergenic wipes are free of alcohol, fragrance, parabens, and dermatologist tested which is great! They really get the job done!
Seventh Generation Free & Clear Baby Laundry Detergent (Sensitive skin): I've always used a baby specific laundry detergent since Amira was born. There is something about using a general detergent for her that just didn't sit well with me. The amount of chemicals are INTENSE and I wanted a safer version for her so we've been using seventh generation baby laundry detergent. It cleans stains really well and is made up of plant derived cleaning agents, it's also free of fragrance, dyes, and artificial brighteners.
Honest Organic Chest Rub: When Amira came down with her first cold I knew I needed a chest rub for her. Now, mind you my mother is Puerto Rican so any SIGN of sickness resulted in a thick layer of Vicks VapoRub all over my body haha (I'm sure some of you can relate). I was really tempted to buy Amira a tub of the baby version of Vicks VapoRub but I came across this Honest organic breathe easy rub and decided to go this route. This rub smells really good and uses eucalyptus, tea tree, lavender, and rosemary oils to help support clear breathing, help soothe, and calm your baby.
Burt's Bees Baby Multipurpose Ointment: I've gushed about this product before (here) and I really love it so much. It's 100% natural and free of phthalates, parabens, petrolatum, and SLS. It's main ingredient is shea butter and it moisturizes and heals so WELL (literally overnight). I use it for diaper rashes, dry skin, and minor scrapes!
Babyganics Foaming Dish & Bottle Soap: I LOVE this dish soap for all of Amira's bottle parts, bowls, spoons, and even my breast pump parts! I also use it to quickly clean toys or pacifiers that fell on the floor (in between my usual boiling sessions). It's non-allergenic, non-irritating, pediatrician, and dermatologist tested which I love!
Babyganics Foaming Hand Santizer: We have this alcohol- free foaming hand sanitizer on us at all times! I'm not going to lie I was a bit skeptical about the cleaning power of an alcohol-free hand sanitizer, like does it really clean germs? However, when we can't get to a sink fast enough we've used this and it's a great alternative to the alcohol based sanitizers full of chemicals!
Seventh Generation Disinfecting Wipes: This isn't a baby specific product but we've been switching a lot of our household cleaners to natural! We use these seven generation disinfecting wipes for all surfaces in Amira's nursery, on her toys, highchair, and practically any surface she comes in contact with!
