How to dress for cold weather
Whether we like it or not, it's about to get really really cold in the next few weeks here on the east coast! These photos makes me laugh because I look so calm and collected, but it was so incredibly cold out while shooting this outfit! Thankfully my layers and giant scarf helped keep me warm, otherwise I would have turned into an ice sculpture on the spot! As the temperatures begin to drop substantially, it's time to get really creative on how to dress and stay stylish. So I wanted to share with you five style tips for cold weather dressing!
Layer, Layer, LAYER!
Layering is essential to staying warm during the winter months. It can be as simple as wearing a long sleeve tee under your sweater (which is what I did here) or adding a button up under a sweater. Layering adds character to your outfits and keep you super warm at the same time.
Scarves are your best friend
Invest in a few chunky scarves for the winter months. The bigger the better! You can always offset the heaviness of the scarf by wearing skinny jeans and heeled boot.
Don't shy away from a good turtleneck
Turtlenecks have had a bad rap for such a LONG time. I absolutely love them in the winter and can't live without my turtlenecks. While, it seems like a nerdy piece of clothing it can actually look amazing if pulled off the right way. Check out how I've styled mine here, here, and here!
Still wear your cropped jeans but opt for a higher ankle boot
Just because it's getting cold doesn't mean you have to put your cropped jeans away! In this outfit I opted for a higher ankle boot to make up for some of the gap between the hem and my ankle. I love that there is still little bit of skin showing still even if it's just a sliver.
Belt your coat
At one point, you're going to feel like Randy from A Christmas Story with all of the layers and bulky coats you'll be wearing this season (best movie ever by the way!). My favorite trick is to belt my coats so I can accentuate my waist but stay warm at the same time!
