5 Ways to Motivate Yourself to Work Out This Year
Fitness is one of those resolutions that everyone adds to their list each year, but somehow it never gets fully achieved. To be honest, I used to be one those people! However, I'm trying not to focus on my previous failed attempts, but focusing on keeping myself motivated and accountable this year. So I wanted to share with you the 5 ways I motivate myself to work out. I hope these tips help you get a jump start on achieving your fitness goals!
Invest in Fitness Attire
Investing in quality workout clothes helps you to feel great about hitting the gym! This entire outfit is by Gap Factory's GFit line and all of the pieces I'm wearing are extremely comfortable. I don't believe that you have to break the bank in order to get great work out clothes, so I love how affordable these pieces are. The tops and bottoms in their GFit line are designed with performance materials that helps pull moisture away from your body and keep you dry. I also love how supportive their sports bras are and how cozy their fleece wear is (perfect for yoga). Be sure to check out their collection in store at Gap Factory or online!
Get a workout buddy
When I work out alone I kind of let myself slack a bit or I convince myself not to go. Having a buddy will keep you accountable and challenge you at the gym! My husband has become my gym buddy this year and we work out together to keep each other going. Before I was married, I used to go with my sister or my mom and I loved it! Enlist someone in your life who has similar fitness goals to hit the gym with you or to check in with you to see how you are progressing!
Get to the gym first thing in the morning
I'm not a morning person, I've never been and it's always really hard for me to get up in the morning. However, I find that it's even harder for me to do anything after work. Once I switched up my workout time to the morning, I felt so much more productive. I loved that my workout was done for the day and that I can sit on the couch after work and not feel guilty!
Track your success
Tracking your success makes hitting the gym so much more rewarding. You're able to see where you started and how you've progressed over time. Also, tracking your success is very motivating because it forces you to keep going so you can reach your ultimate goal. Whether that goal is loosing weight, getting abs, or completing a marathon, tracking your success ensures you get there!
Enjoying a healthy balance of great food and exercise
I'm a foodie so giving up good food wasn't something I was willing to do without a fight! I enjoy working out so I'm able to indulge in delicious food from time to time without feeling guilty. I don't believe you have to deprive yourself of wonderful food, so a healthy balance is what keeps me motivated to continue my fitness routine!
